A (newly appointed) bishop is visiting our parish communuty!

On May 6, 2013, His Holiness Pope Francis named Auxiliary Bishop Mark J. Seitz, D.D. of Dallas as the sixth Bishop of El Paso to succeed Bishop Armando X. Ochoa who was installed as the Bishop of Fresno.  Bishop Seitz was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on January 10, 1954, the oldest of 10 children. The reason for this visit is that Bishop Seitz will confer the ministry of Acolyte to thirteen students Assumption Seminary. An Acolyte is appointed to aid the deacon and to minister to the priest at the altar and as a special minister to give Holy Communion to the faithful at Mass and to the sick. Acolytes may also expose the Eucharist for public adoration in the absence of a priest or deacon. During the institution ceremony, candidates are reminded that they will have a special role in the Church’s ministry, since the summit and source of the Church’s life is the Eucharist, which builds up the Christian community and makes it grow. We are happy to welcome in our parish community the Faculty and students of the Assumption Seminary in this important event, and Bishop Seitz who represents the bishops of the students receiving this ministry. On the back of these lines you will find the information and a formal invitation to attend this ceremony. Let us be united in Christ and in prayer for vocations to the priesthood ■ Fr. Agustin.
