(We have) a lot to do!

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, God, the pastor and good coffee is a site (written and cyber) in which your pastor wants to reflect on the things that are happening in the Universal Church in our Archdiocese of San Antonio and in our beloved parish. You will find this bulletin inserts every week, and you can also read it online, the address is below. Where I took the title to this blog? A few weeks ago, when I came to the parish on Sunday morning, I had my cup of coffee, put it on the bench and thought how wonderful it is to sit and drink coffee and talk with Jesus. I wish that they would find weekly lines are an aid to your conversation with the Lord. If you add coffee, wonderful! In this first edition I want to introduce myself briefly. I was born in Guadalajara (Mexico) 40 years ago, I received priestly ordination 13 years ago in Aguascalientes (Mexico), and seven years ago (May of 2006) I came to work in this blessed country. As you well remember, this parish was my first pastoral assignment, from here I went to work two years at St. Matthew (2007-2009), as parochial vicar, and from there I went to St. Vincent de Paul as a pastor (2009-2013). Archbishop Gustavo recently appointed me a member of the Faculty of Assumption Seminary and asked me to attend this community and I accepted with great pleasure and joy. My favorite Mexican singer use to say that, "One always returns to the old places where loved life", and it's true! I began my journey in this country precisely in this parish and you guys have always been in my heart. Now it's time to back to work. We will work together but not seeking our own glory or applause of others. We will work out of love for God, love for the universal Church and in communion with our beloved Archbishop Gustavo. I have noticed that few people participate in our liturgies on Saturday and Sunday, and although the number of people is not indicative of the success of a community, it is good to grow. I wish more people would realize how beautiful Catholic liturgy is; I wish more people had a personal encounter with the Lord. I would like to start working on this, that this focuses our first efforts. Let's invite more people to come to San Francesco di Paola, or beloved community! ◼ Fr. Agustin, pastor.
